Breakfast was included in our Murals accommodation package so we had bacon, eggs and toast / rice in the cafe in front of the hostel. We then caught a Grab to the airport to fly with Philippines Airlines to Puerto Princesa, Palawan, Philippines.
We are staying in Sheebang Hostel for two nights, which is a bit of a way out of the main area in Puerto Princesa. The hostel has a very social setup, with a funky outdoor bar (happy hour 4-6pm) and a table tennis table!

After playing a few games of table tennis which Kyle won by a mile, we set out on a 3.5 km walk in the sweltering heat to get lunch at Ka Inato as recommended by the hostel. The locals thought we were mad for walking but nice cold bottles of Sprite and Royal (Fanta) and a snack on some caramalised banana street food (two bananas wrapped in something and cooked on the bbq, was delicious and only P10!) got us there.
The restaurant had a very colourful setup and had displays of sign language to help customers communicate with deaf employees. For lunch we had bihon seafood noodles and steamed local veges wrapped in banana leaf. It was the first time we tried okra (yum) and ampalaya (very bitter and not so much to our taste). The veges came with a bagoong balayan – a type of fish sauce. It was very potent and although we both gave it a try, we decided the veges went best without the sauce.

Following lunch we walked back to the Robinson’s Mall where Kyle finally found a hat and wallet! Wooo!
We the caught a tricycle back to the hostel and parked up at the bar with our free welcome drink – calamansi (local lime) juice with gin. That was followed by a couple of San Miguel lights to make the most of happy hour.
To accompany the beverages we played 500, and a couple more games of table tennis.

For dinner we caught a tricycle to Hen House, an American bbq restaurant with stunning reviews on TripAdvisor. We had the vegetable skewers, fries and house special smoked ribs. The food was good but very over priced and not as tasty as the local Filipino bbq food. The service and unlimited sauces were good though.

After dinner we went for a walk. We explored the new Stellar food market and ended up in a bar called e-republic. This was quite entertaining as there were different groups of cross dressers singing and performing comedy. Although we couldn’t understand any of the comedy it was still enjoyable to watch!
