Day 14: El Nido

Scuba diving day 2 and today Kyle made it out to complete day 1 of his open water dive licence, yay!

For the first dive, Kyle completed his confined water basic skills training (which was in the shallow in the sea so not really confined water at all) and I had a fun dive with another group.

For the second and third dives we got to dive together. They counted as my underwater naturalist and fish identification dives but were really just fun dives. I was a bit guttered as I had been hoping to learn some new skills, I had originally asked to do the search and recovery dive but I found out on the boat that they didn’t have the gear 😥

Nonetheless it was awesome being able to dive with Kyle on his first open water dives! The coral on these dives was pretty amazing, and we saw a blue spotted ribbon tail ray and a turtle amongst the huge schools of tropical fish.

For dinner we went to Trattoria Altrove and had pesto alla genovese spaghetti pasta and all’ arrabbiata fettuccine. All up it cost about $20, including a beer, and was really tasty and filling!
