Day 13: El Nido

Sooooo unfortunately Kyle was up all night with a dodgy tummy and couldn’t make it to scuba diving πŸ˜₯

To stop a double up on rescheduling fees I still headed out for day 1 of the advanced open water course.

Today I completed deep dive, underwater navigation and peak performance buoyancy. I had the course 1 to 1 with the instructor, luckily I passed everything easily as there was nowhere to hide! The boat had a really good setup and the trip included lunch of fish, pork, chicken, rice, vegetables and fruit which was really good!

The highlights from day one was probably the coral. Doing the deep dive we were on a sandy bottom doing some writing to check for gas narcosis, and during the navigation dive we were in the middle of nowhere with no visible reference points as I navigated a triangle and square. For the buoyancy dive we did a wall dive, pretty daunting swimming along when the bottom is nowhere in sight!

Upon my return to the hostel we were both buggered so we ordered burgers from Thery’s through the hostel – free delivery! Kyle had managed to keep some noodles and chips down in the afternoon so had a burger also. They were really bloody good but a bit more pricey then others we’d had at around $8 each.
