Today we moved out of our hostel in Coron. The morning was spent sleeping in, watching basketball and packing up our clean washing before checkout at 10. For brekky we went to a restaurant around the corner for pancakes, muesli and an omelette.
For the next couple of hours we parked up at a bamboo hut down at the port. I wasn’t feeling too good so i had a nap while Kyle planned some more of our journey.
For lunch we went back to Buzz and had a soda each and shared the vegetarian burger. Followed with a few games of 500 this took us through to around 3 pm.
After picking up our bags from the hostel we caught a tricycle to the port to board an overnight ferry to Manilla. The ferry was huggeee!
To board they split women and men into two separate lines. Everyone was then patted down while a dog sniffed all the luggage.
For the ferry we booked a ‘State Room’ which turned out to be one of only around 8 private rooms on the boat – the rest were dorms ranging from 4 beds onwards. To get to our room we first had to collect our key from the info desk. Adjacent to the info desk was a convenience store, and on the other side, a hairdressers!

Our room was probably the fanciest one we’d stayed in so far, it was definitely nice to have our own space. We we’re stoked to have a TV but it turned out that there was no reception for the entire journey. Our room was located at the front of the ferry and we had a window with a view over the front deck.
Dinner on the boat was organised into set meals which came with one serving of rice, your choice of meat or vege dish and a dessert. We had the pork and chicken dishes with a red horse and pepsi to wash it down. All the beers on the boat came with a bag of chips which was interesting.

Following dinner we explored the boat and then parked up back in the dinning room with a beer to watch the live band. The band turned out to be more of a karaoke group so we didn’t stay too long.
Once we arrived in the Manilla we decided to spend the day at the super mall of Asia. There was a lockup where we left our luggage for the day and from there we wandered aimlessly around the mall, it was huge. The mall had a power cut for half the time we were there so we were left wondering in the dark. This seems normal for the Philippines. For brekky we had scrambled eggs with smoked salmon at The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf cafe. Then Kyle found some new friends.
By 3pm we had had enough and caught a Grab to the airport. We had a couple of hours to wait for our flight and this was used to catch up on the blog and sink our last Filipino beer.
The flight to Thailand was approx. 3.5 hours long. We decided to order some food on the plane and ot turned out to be pretty tasty!
Kyle spent most of the journey sleeping…
When we arrived in Bangkok, the taxi stand tried to charge us 900 baht (over $40). Instead we brought a Sim card for 150 baht with unlimited internet for 3 days and used the new mobile number to order a Grab for only 300 baht. DON’T TRUST THE TAXI!!!
Once checked into our hostel – Kyle’s favourite ‘The Oasis’ we went to his favourite spot to get some crispy pork pad see yew for dinner.

Unfortunately his favourite thick noodles had run out so we had to go for the rice noodles, but it was still delicious! Washed down with a 620ml bottle of Chang it was a great way to settle in to Thailand. To top it all off the meal only cost 260 baht including the beers ($13). The food itself was only 100 baht!
